Day is the author of more than 200 published technical papers and several books, including two editions of Foundation Engineering Handbook and Geotechnical Engineer's Portable Handbook. He holds both bachelors and masters degrees in structural engineering from Villanova University and a master’s degree in civil engineering and a civil engineer degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Great Reference

This is great reference book. The information is presented in a logical and concise format but with the detail and depth needed to enable the reader to make an educated evaluation. This book covers all the fine points of a forensic investigation from administration to data collection to final report. A must have in any forensic or geotechnical office. Highly recommended.

Summary of the topic for engineers

Bought it used but it was like new. Good for architects and civil/structural engineers like me that don't already have a lot of knowledge about foundation problems, and for geotechnical/soils engineers with an interest in forensics. Good for me but probably a little light for geotechnical engineers that already have a lot of experience.
A lot of good stuff in this book, five stars would have been for a larger book with more of the same in greater depth.

He lives in the southeast with his wife and two children.

Farewell, Captain Harden and thanks for the adventure!

Is this really farewell to Captain Lee Harden?? I have enjoyed the whole series and hate to say good-bye. One of the greatest thing about these books is the fast pace of the story. When I start reading I just have to keep going along with the relentless pace of the story. No conclusion to a series will please everyone, but It felt fitting to me. I would love to see another novel (or two) about how the United States might come back together after this. Would Briggs ever give up his control and rejoin the southeastern group??? Will some type of communication between the factions be developed?? Maybe D J Molles will give us more. I would look forward to it, but thanks for the great story and the character of Captain Harden!

Leaves You Wanting a Better Ending

I'm a huge fan of this series, but this final chapter seemed to be rushed and has no solid conclusion. The "pregnant zombie" angle fizzled out a couple of books ago and I've been waiting to see where that once interesting storyline would go, and the whole Lee and Angela relationship ended up being SUPER disappointing. I was hoping for more of a current and future update to this whole series. Something to tie everything up nicely. And where's the Staley family reunion? Not what I'd hoped for :(

I have been reading the series for several years and am glad it is over (not fan of the never-ending series). DJ Molles writing style is good and better than most of the amateur authors out there (though I think he is beyond that title now). I also think that Mr. Molles realized the most "exciting" part of a post apoc is the first 6-months as characters transition from modern life to 1800's style life with zombies...after 6-months it is simply brutal, day to day living...so I am glad he closed this one out. If he had pursued it, it would have transitioned into a series on how the east coast reunites the US with a zombie apocalypse as a side note.

The main part about this book is that because the series was strung out over 3+ years it was difficult to recall who was who. For example Father Jim, I know he was in an earlier book, I know Laroux killed him and he is referenced in this book - and I don't recall much about him. Abe is in there too along with Tomlin...I know they are Army guys...but difficult to recall who they were.
@ DJ Molles - having a website or couple page roll-up of Who's who would help.

There are lots of loose ends as the book ends, but I am ok with that. To tie then all up would take several more books. The major points were closed out and anything remaining was minor.

Overall, good end to the series.

These examples give students a solid grasp of the solutions as well as the confidence to solve similar problems themselves. Some of the problems are solved in two or three ways to facilitate a deeper understanding and comparison of different approaches.

Ten review questions in the form of multiple-choice objective items are provided at the end of each chapter with answers. The review questions are intended to cover the "little tricks" that the examples and end-of-chapter problems may not cover. They serve as a self-test device and help students determine chapter mastery. Each chapter also ends with a summary of key points and formulas.

Designed for a three-hour semester course on signals and systems, Signals and Systems: A Primer with MATLAB� is intended as a textbook for junior-level undergraduate students in electrical and computer engineering. The prerequisites for a course based on this book are knowledge of standard mathematics (including calculus and differential equations) and electric circuit analysis.

About the Author

Matthew N.O. Sadiku received his B.Sc from Ahmadu Bello University, and his M.Sc and Ph.D from Tennessee Technological University. He is currently a professor at Prairie View A&M University. He was previously a senior scientist with Boeing Satellite Systems, system engineer with Lucent/Avaya, full professor with Temple University, and assistant professor with Florida Atlantic University. Widely published and highly decorated, Dr. Sadiku is a registered professional engineer, a fellow of the IEEE, and a member of the ACM. He has served as the IEEE Region 2 Student Activities Committee chairman, and as an associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Education.

Warsame H. Ali received his B.Sc from King Saud University, his M.Sc from Prairie View A&M University, and his Ph.D from the University of Houston. He is currently teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Prairie View A&M University. He was previously with NASA, Glenn Research Center, and with Texas Instruments. Dr. Ali has authored 80 research articles in major scientific journals and conferences, given several invited talks, and received many NSF, AFRL, and DOE awards. His research interests include digital PID controllers, digital methods to electrical measurements, mixed signals testing techniques, and more.

Life becomes so worthy when one can fight through many conditions and brave it out. The author has taken a tough part of his life and shown us how small battles can be won. A few things that came to mind. His approach towards the disease with mistakes most of us make- non-acceptance and doing a turn around. Then managing with right safeguards. Afterall things beyond our power can take us into different, earth-shattering experiences. And time to live, is now.
