About the Author

Wendell Odom, CCIE No. 1624 (Emeritus), has been in the networking industry since 1981. He has worked as a network engineer, consultant, systems engineer, instructor, and course developer; he currently works writing and creating certification study tools. This book is his 27th edition of some product for Pearson, and he is the author of all editions of the CCNA R&S and CCENT Cert Guides from Cisco Press. He has written books about topics from networking basics, certification guides throughout the years for CCENT, CCNA R&S, CCNA DC, CCNP ROUTE, CCNP QoS, and CCIE R&S. I find this book and INCD1 easy to read and love the goals incorporated into each chapter with a final review for each segment. I wish I had gotten this book first. Now off to hopefully pass the exam!

Everything you need for the ICND2 is in this book, as well as some stuff you won't

Extremely thorough manual with everything you need to know to pass the CCNA/ICND2 exam. I originally purchased the ipad version and highly recommend avoiding the electronic copy and opting for this hardcover book instead. It makes studying much easier as you can view more material, make necessary notes and highlight. You will also get a handy disk included with plenty of tools and resources to maximize the effectiveness of your study time. I recently passed the ICND1 exam and used the same Cisco Official Cert Guide (ICND1) as one of my primary study sources. I highly recommend this to get the knowledge you need to pass. I only rated 4 stars because of the complete overkill of information in the book. Some of the concepts in the book will not be covered in the exam. I'd rather see a book centered focused only on the concepts in the exam.

About the Author
Jane Short graduated in English from the University of Southampton, and started her career in English language teaching with VSO in Thailand. She has a PGCE from University College, London and an MA in TEFL from the University of Reading. She lived in Venezuela for over 20 years, where she taught English in industry and business. Between 1997 and 2003, she also taught English literature and language teaching methodology at the Universidad Pedagogica El Libertador in Barquisimeto. Since 2003, she has lectured in English for Academic Purposes at the University of Kent, where she is currently Director of In-sessional English language provision. She is the author of the IELTS Graduation: Teacher's Book and co-author of the IELTS Graduation: Study Skills Pack, published by Macmillan Education. Jane has written the Psychology title in the award-winning ESAP series which was published in 2010. Terry Phillips has worked in ELT for more than 35 years as a teacher, teaching supervisor, manager and language school owner. As a consultant, he has worked in more than 20 countries in all parts of the world, advising state and private language institutions on all aspects of school management. For the last ten years, he has been a full time freelance writer with his wife Anna, producing more than 160 published books in ELT. Although he and Anna have worked for all the major publishers, all recent works have been for Garnet Education. Terry is the series editor of the English for Specific Academic Purposes series for Garnet Education, which aims to prepare students to entry into a particular faculty for English-medium tertiary education. The series won the ESU award in 2009.

Lovely, upbeat romance!

A Fallen Fortune is a lovely, upbeat romance with well-developed, relatable characters. We have Elspeth, a beautiful, fiercely independent young woman and Leo, her handsome, arrogant, maddening neighbor. They find themselves inexplicably drawn to one another against the gorgeous, romantic backdrop of rural France. But their attraction and rising passion isn’t a simple one. Both are hiding their own set of secrets that you must discover for yourself. Amidst the deceit and mill restoration, there is plenty of heat and humor. I rarely read a book more than once, but I am looking forward to savoring this one again.

Wonderful! Fantastic! A beautiful story that I loved from the opening chapter, a ruin needing restoration and a feisty young lady who's going to 'do it by myself'. Of course we have a super hero who melts your heart with his accent, a wicked lady, and a cliff hanger that will set your mind and heart racing. I can't praise this versatile Author enough. The writing style of A Fallen Fortune is that of an experienced and accomplished wordsmith who creates her characters with aplomb and embroiders her landscapes in colours that are jewel like to your imagination. I've read it twice now and it's a keeper, warms your heart and soothes the soul...

Young Love at its Best

What can I say? The third volume of Love at Fourteen continues its amazing story of young romance. What makes this series so impressive is how easily readers will empathize with the characters. And by the third volume, the cast of characters has grown to a point where you'll have no trouble picking out both your favorite person and your favorite budding relationship.

After the events in the last volume, there's now tension between the boys and girls of class 2-B. Kanata and Kazuki who step in trying to mediate the situation actually get sucked into it themselves. This results in the couple getting into their first fight ever with delightful consequences (at least to us readers). While this arc isn't necessarily one of my favorites due to its reliance on classic romcom tropes of misunderstandings driving the conflict, the arc does contain some of the author's best drawings on the series yet. I'll try not to reveal too much, but let's just say the characters fantasize about their love interests in school play costumes and man oh man is it stunning.

While Yen Press's summary advertises Kanata and Kazuki's fight as the main story for this volume, thankfully there's plenty more story to read including Kanata's first experience with makeup and a meaty arc between Nagai and Hinohara-sensei where Nagai questions whether or not Hinohara cares about him. This was definitely my favorite part of the book and as you can probably guess, my favorite couple.

One last thing that must be said is Aoi Shiki wins this volume's contest of best character. Ironically, while I like her the least of the main cast, she is arguably the most interesting because of her porcupine-like personality and numerous flaws. She also has the biggest uphill challenge in her love life on two fronts, the first being that she's in love with a girl and the second being that she knows her crush loves someone else. You're going to see Aoi in this volume really struggle between being aggressive in her pursuit of love and doing what is right for her crush. When you see the results of her efforts, your heart is going to ache for her.

Yen Press has done a great job with the series. I can happily report that the translation is awesome, and quality of the book is just stellar. The volume contains a few gorgeous, glossy-colored pages and an afterwards from the author. While I can't wait for the next volume, there's definitely more than enough content here that will tide me over before September's release.

Always a delight

I love how realistic this series is. It’s mature, in the way that it handles first love, and the way they’re mature characters, while insecure. The way the characters look at each other, their feelings develop, is subtle and slow, but at a steady, realistic pace.

Kanata and Kazuki have a fight, without meaning to or understanding how it happened. They try keeping up their good faces in front of their classmates. And then they make up, and it’s shy and sweet. They go out together, try to do things to impress each other. Kanata tries lip gloss, and wants Kazuki to notice.

Then there’s Nagai, who tends to show anger when he gets attention. I know some people will be uncomfortable with his developing relationship with their teacher, but I’m not. Maybe I should be, given I’m not sure how far apart in age they all are. But I kind of like how she teases him, pushes him. And how, in return, he’s starting to get to her.

And Shiki. I cannot express how pleased I am this series has straight couples (potential ones), and a gay character. I love it! She’s in love with Kanata, and I enjoy the way she thinks in third-person. She gets little chapters of thoughts, showing her feelings and growing friendship with Kanata, as well as her jealousy of Kazuki. I’m so impressed with this.

Then we got peaks of new characters at the end of the volume. I don’t know if we’ll see more of them, but I love the glimpses we get of other characters. Just little thoughts from main and side characters in snipets, the subtly showing worlds of thought and growth and work.

I love this series already. I’m wildly impressed with the development and thought and complexity. I can’t wait for the next one, every time.

Adorable couple

I love the innocence these two share when they are together and apart. It reminds me of how much we go through as adolescents when we start to recognize ourselves and those around us. Not only are these two dealing with this, but they have to deal with the feelings of blooming love as well. Seeing them move from one step at a time is just too sweet for words.
